Three Goals, Three Girls in Road Victory

LOGAN -- Three different girls scored the three goals in the No. 8 BYU women's soccer's victory on the road over the Utah State Aggies, Saturday. The win brings BYU's record to 8-1-1 this season.

"I thought this was a good jump-start game from our last one," said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "We had several good practices this week to help us prepare. Kassidy came out strong and got an early goal for us and we got great minutes from our bench in both the first and second half. We're pleased with what we were able to do today so I thought it was a great win against a tough opponent on the road."

Senior forward Kassidy Shumway got things started early for the Cougars with a header goal in the first four minutes of game action off a corner kick from teammate Lauren Anderson.

Before the half, the Cougars tallied another goal from forward Jennie Marshall off a cross from Shumway to put them up 2-0 heading into the locker room.

Forward Auna Janis-Doria netted her sixth career goal for BYU at the 78th minute of the game, after an assist from Nicole Ernst, to secure the Cougar victory on the road.

BYU recorded 16 shots and 12 corner kicks to Utah State's eight and seven, respectively.

BYU midfielder Jessica Ringwood led all players with five shots in the Cougar victory. Kendra Pemberton led the Aggies with three shots.

Goalkeeper McKinzie Olson recorded her fourth shutout victory for BYU with the win over the Aggies.

The Cougars are now undefeated when they lead their game at the half and can score first against their opponent.

Up next for BYU is a game at home on Wednesday, Sept. 29, against Idaho State at 7 p.m.
