LARAMIE -- Senior defender Jessica Carter scored her second goal in a BYU uniform to help BYU defeat Wyoming 1-0 in Laramie on Saturday.

Both teams fought through the first half to establish some momentum. BYU had five shots before the break to Wyoming's four.

Carter's goal came in the 79th minute, when she blasted a long shot from about 30 yards out that the Wyoming keeper was unable to control. The ball slid past the goalie and into the net for the game-winning goal.

Neither team was able to be very dominant in the game. Wyoming outshot the Cougars 7-9, and had two more shots on goal 6-4, but wasn't able to score.

Freshman keeper McKinzie Olson was again strong in goal with six saves, three in each half in the shutout win.

With the win, BYU moves to 15-5-0 (7-0, MWC), while Wyoming drops to 8-10-1 (2-5, MWC).

The victory concludes the regular season for the Cougars, and they now look ahead to the Mountain West Conference tournament.
