PROVO, Utah (Sept. 24) - In front of over 2,000 fans, BYU's 10th ranked women's soccer team captured its second shutout of the year with a 3-0 victory over Washington, Friday.

Three different Cougar players scored for BYU in front of the second largest home crowd in the four-year history of the soccer program. BYU improves to 8-1 on the year, while the Huskies fall to 2-4.

Sara Reading put the Cougars on the scoreboard first with a header goal in the 16th minute of the game. All-American Maren Hendershot picked up her fifth goal of the season in the 28th minute of the first half. Senior Karen Wunderli sealed the 3-0 shutout for BYU in the 53rd minute of the contest.

"I'm extremely pleased and happy with tonight's victory. We played very well tonight and we had three incredible top quality goals," said Cougar head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "Everyone played well and I was especially impressed with the way our second group of players played in the second half. We didn't let up, and played with the same level of intensity and pressure."

With about 15 minutes remaining in the game Rockwood left just two starters in the game and played almost her entire bench.

The Cougars outshot the Huskies 24 to 6. Washington's goalkeeper Hope Solo had 13 saves., compared with four saves by BYU goalkeeper Jennifer Waldron.

BYU hosts Pacific Saturday with a 6 p.m. Kick off at South Field.
