PROVO -- Led by a career-high performance by junior Kim Little, the No. 11 BYU women's gymnastics team placed second in the a three-team meet with a team score of 195.650. Utah won the meet with a season-high score of 197.200 and Southern Utah placed third with a score of 193.300.

Little, who suffered a thumb injury Friday during practice, was questionable for the meet but finished with a career-high all-around score of 39.400.

Little also tied a personal best 9.875 on the uneven bars, despite having to start over because of a loose cable on the bars that forced her stop. She scored the 9.875 after starting over at the end of the lineup. Little was also the only event winner for the Cougars by scoring a 9.950 on the floor exercise to win the event.

Sophomore Kelly Parkinson, who set the all-around school record of 39.550 a week ago, had another strong meet, scoring a 39.375 in the all-around. She tied for third on the floor with a 9.900.

Utah's Deidra Graham won the all-around with a score of 39.575. Caycee Overstreet finished with a 38.975 to lead the Thunderbirds.

The Cougars will participate in a regional meet on April 1 at a site to be announced next week.

After a home meet with Southern Utah that saw several BYU records fall, the No. 11 BYU women's gymnastics team will host No. 6 Utah and Southern Utah in the final home meet of the season Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center.

The Cougars defeated Southern Utah 196.525-193.750 in a dual meet Friday in the Smith Fieldhouse. The 196.525 for the Cougars set a BYU single-meet team record.

The Utes are ranked 6th in the nation with a team regional qualifying score of 196.250. Utah and BYU met Feb. 4 with Utah coming out ahead 196.300-195.800.

The Cougars currently have a regional qualifying score of 195.450. That ranks them 11th in the country. The Cougars will participate in a regional meet April 1. Locations for the regional meet will be determined next week.

On the Thunderbirds ...

This will be the third time this season the Cougars have competed with the Thunderbirds. BYU defeated SUU in a dual meet last Friday in the Smith Fieldhouse 196.525-193.750. Southern Utah defeated BYU 194.425-194.250 Feb. 29 in Cedar City.

On the Utes ...

The Utes are currently sixth in the nation with a regional qualifying score of 196.250. They have a high score of 197.075 in a meet at Utah State Feb. 7.

Utah defeated BYU 196.300-195.800 in Salt Lake City on Feb. 4 in the only meeting between the two schools this season.
