BYU gained an early 49.000-48.850 lead after the first event as junior KayCee Gassaway's 9.825 led her team on the uneven bars. No BYU gymnast scored lower than a 9.725 on that event.

On vault, Johnson scored a team-high 9.800 followed by Jordan Schult with a 9.750.

After setting a new personal high on the floor routine Friday night, Gassaway did it again with a 9.825 in Cedar City. Hatch added a 9.850 to give BYU a 49.025, its highest mark of the night.

The Cougars were up after three events, 146.650-146.475, but the Thunderbirds scored a meet-high 49.125 on their final event to squeeze out the victory.
