TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Senior Andrea Nelson Harrison concluded her successful cross country career placing 46th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute Saturday.

Harrison’s 46th-place finish was the highest for a BYU runner at the NCAA Championships since Morgan Haws finished 14th in 2011.

“Andrea had the best race of her life,” BYU head coach Patrick Shane said. “I am so proud of both Andrea and Carrie (Jube). They both ran their hearts out.”

Last season, Harrison finished in 86th place after falling behind early. This time around, she was determined to start fast and improve on her finish.

“I was excited to race knowing it was my last cross country race,” Harrison said. “At the beginning, I did a good job of putting myself up with the girls I wanted to race with. I was happy with how it ended.”

Harrison’s time of 20:50.7 was only six seconds away from placing in the top 40 and being named an All-American.

Carrie Jube also competed for BYU and capped off her junior season placing 126th with a time of 21:24.1.
