Riley Garners All-America Citation

PROVO, Utah - BYU senior center Kristen Riley has been named AP  All-America Honorable Mention.

The award is Riley’s first All-American citation.  During the 2011-12 campaign, Riley was the Cougars’ leading scorer and rebounder averaging 11.4 points and 8.0 boards per game.

She was named WCC Player of the Year and made the WCC All-Conference Team, in addition to picking up two WCC Player of the Month awards for the months of January and February and one WCC Player of Week honor.

Riley finished her career ranked 19th all-time in BYU’s prestigious 1,000 point club with a total of 1,042 points.  She also grabbed 744 career rebounds, which puts her in sixth place all-time. In career blocks, she ranks fifth all-time with a total of 87 blocked shots.

The Cougars won the WCC basketball championships by defeating Gonzaga 78-66 after finishing second place in its first season competing in the West Conference. BYU made its first NCAA post-season appearance since the 2007 season, falling to DePaul 59-55 in the first round contest.
