BYU senior Kristen Riley has been named the West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Month for February, announced the league office.

The award is the second for Riley. She was also named January’s player of the month.

For the month of February, the senior co-captain started all games and recorded five double-doubles including four straight.

The 6-foot-3 center from San Clemente, Calif., averaged 13.9 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 44 percent from the field, 35 percent from the 3-point mark and 75 percent at the free throw line.

She finished the month with a total of 97 points, 72 rebounds (including 53 defensive boards), six blocks and nine steals.

In the game at Gonzaga she picked up her 13th double-digit outing in points in conference action with 11 points, recording her 17th double figure game of the year and the 44th of her career. The nine rebounds she grabbed in that contest were game highs.

Riley recorded her 10th double-double of the season and the 14th of her career with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds in the home game vs. Santa Clara. In that game she put her name in BYU’s record books, becoming the school’s 22nd player to reach 1,000 points in her career with 1,009.

With her rebound at 7:15 in the first half of the home game vs. San Francisco, she tied her sister Lauren Riley Varley in career rebounds and is now in seventh place in BYU history for rebounds with 690.
