Hamson Named to Primetime Performers Honor Roll
BYU women’s basketball player Jennifer Hamson has been named to the Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll by CollegeSports360.com.
The 6-foot-7 sophomore center from Lindon, Utah, and Pleasant Grove High School picked up the honor after her impressive performance that helped the Cougars upset then No. 18 ranked Gonzaga 70-40 last Thursday. In that game Hamson tallied 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds, had one assist, one steal and a game-high three blocks in 22 minutes of playing time.
Her defensive presence inside kept the Bulldogs’ top scorers from reaching their season averages as Gonzaga shot just 21 percent from the field and scored a season-low 40 points.
The award is the second recognition for Hamson this year. Earlier in the week she was named to the Madness West Coast Women’s Basketball Player of the week by College Sports Madness.
No. 23 BYU is back in WCC action this week hosting San Francisco Thursday night at 7 p.m., and San Diego on Saturday at 1 p.m.
