PROVO, Utah -- BYU women’s basketball head coach Jeff Judkins has announced the resignation of assistant coach Alli Bills to pursue other professional opportunities.

Bills has been with the Cougars coaching staff for the past 12 years.

“Alli has made great contributions to our women’s basketball program,” said coach Judkins. “She’s been a key factor in our success. We will miss her enthusiasm, energy, love for the game and her concern for the girls.”

Prior to joining Judkins’ staff at BYU, she was an assistant for one year at her alma mater, the University of Utah, during the 2000-01 season.

The Cougars clinched the 2011 MWC regular season title with a 15-1 record.

BYU’s women’s basketball program has made back-to-back WNIT appearances the last two seasons including a run to the Elite Eight of the postseason tournament during the 2009-10 campaign. BYU also had back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 2006 and 2007.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work at BYU and I have learned so much from coach Judkins,” said Bills. “I’ve loved coaching an incredible group of girls over the years. They’re great women, are a joy to be around, and I look forward to supporting them and wish them the very best.”

During her collegiate career at the University of Utah, she was a member of two WAC All-Defensive teams in 1996-97 and 1997-98 as well as the 1997-98 All-Conference Team. She led the nation in assists during the 1996-97 season and ranked second the following year in the same category. Bills led both the conference and the school in assists during her four years at Utah.
