Judkins, Bonham, Riley Lead Cougar Women's MWC Postseason Honors

COLORADO Springs, Colo. – BYU Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jeff Judkins has been named MWC Coach of the Year, after guiding the team to its third MWC regular season championship title with a 23-7, 15-1 record.

The coaching honor is the third for Judkins in his 10 years at the helm of the Cougar women’s basketball program.

Senior co-captain Mindy Bonham was named the MWC Defensive Player of the Year while junior Kristen Riley garnered the 6th Player of the Year citation. Riley’s award marks the second straight year that a BYU player received the honor. Last season Coriann Fraughton garnered the league’s first ever award.

Bonham was also named to the First-Team All-Mountain West and to the All-Defensive Team. The latter is her third straight selection.

Senior forward Coriann Fraughton garnered Second-Team All-Mountain West while teammate and senior co-captain Haley Hall made the Third-Team All-Mountain West.

For the second straight year Jazmine Foreman and Riley were named Honorable Mention All-Mountain West.

The Cougars who finished the league race with a 15-1 record, and were undefeated at home going 8-0, enter this week’s 2011 MWC tournament on a 12-game win streak and are the No. 1 seed. They will play in one of two semifinal games set for Fri., Mar. 11. Tip off for the game is noon PT, airs live on the Mtn. and can also be heard live on the Internet at byuradio.org
