Parker Named MWC Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Freshman guard Kim Parker has been named Mountain West Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, Monday.

Parker, a 5-11 guard from Heber City, and Wasatch High School, led BYU to a 70-60 win over TCU to keep the Cougars in first place in the Mountain West Conference race. The award is the first for Parker.

Against TCU Parker led BYU with a team-high 14 points and only missed one shot of her nine attempts to make a basket. She was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line and 4-for-5 from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point range. Parker also had two rebounds and a steal in 22 minutes of action against the Horned Frogs in the Cougars only game of the week.

For the week, Parker averaged 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. She shot .800 (4-5) from the field, including .667 (2-3) from three-point range, and 1.000 (4-4) from the free throw line.
