MORAGA -- The BYU women's basketball team celebrated their Thanksgiving holiday on the road with a 67-55 victory over the University of Wisconsin at the Concord Hilton Thanksgiving Tournament in California, Saturday.

"This is a nice win for us on the road," said BYU head coach Jeff Judkins. "We played really well in the first half by coming out agressively on offense and defense. Mindy (Bonham) and Haley (Hall) played really solid for us, they made some smart plays. Coriann also did a great job defending Wisconsin's top player."

Senior Mindy Bonham led all scorers with 16 points in the Cougar victory for her second consecutive game to score in double-figures. Teammates Jazmine Foreman and Haley Hall also contributed double-figure scoring with 10 and 11 points, respectively.

The Cougars took the lead in the first 30 seconds of action and never let up. Hall converted a steal by Foreman for the first three points on the board and her first of three 3-pointers on the night.

Anya Covington was the only player in double figures for Wisconsin with 16 after a tremendous defensive effort by BYU forward Coriann Fraughton (Wood). Fraughton kept Covington to a six-point less scoring performance than her average for the season.

Heading into their respective locker rooms at halftime, the Cougars had taken a 44-26 lead. In the first half of play, the Cougars held the Badgers to just 37 percent shooting from the field while going 48 percent themselves.

The Cougars finished the game with a three-pointer from Hall, just how they had started it. BYU outrebounded the Badgers 36-34 and recorded nine steals to the Wisconsin's three.

BYU will stay put for their next game in the tournament where they'll play Northwestern on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 6 p.m. PT.
