SALT LAKE -- The Cougars played their final road game of the season Saturday, falling 62-73 to Utah in Salt Lake City.

"We played between 32 and 35 minutes of really good basketball," said BYU Head Coach Jeff Judkins. "We lost this game in the last five minutes. We just didn't do the things we needed to when it counted."

The loss came despite impressive performances by junior Julie Sullivan and sophomore Jennie Overdiek. Sullivan scored 20 points, equaling her career and season high, enroute to her fifth consecutive double-digit scoring outing. Overdiek contributed a season-high 15 points on 6-7 shooting, including a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc. Ute forward Mandie Little had a career night and led all scorers with 22 points.

BYU led most of the first half by as many as five points. However, the Cougars went almost six minutes without scoring at the end of the half, surrendering the lead and heading into the locker room down 28-29. The Utes scored seven of their last eleven points in the half from the free-throw line. BYU shot 48 percent (12-25) in the first half as Overdiek scored 10 of her 15 points.

In the second half, both teams traded buckets to start, but the Utes slowly wore down the Cougars and built their lead to as many as 14 points. The Cougars continued to shoot well above average from the field, going 13-24 (.542), but could not hold the Utes back.

Mistakes plagued the Cougars as they doubled up the Utes on fouls 24-12 and committed 16 turnovers to Utah's 10. The Cougars shot well from all over the court, going 25-49 (.510) from the field along with 5-10 (.500) from beyond the arc and a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe for the first time this season. However, the Utes simply had more opportunities from the free-throw line as they made 19 of 26 attempts (.730).

With the loss the Cougars close out their road season and fall to 4-8 in Conference and 14-12 overall while the Utes improve to 21-5 overall and 11-1 in Conference, maintaining their hold on first-place. The Cougars will next be in action Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center against the San Diego State Aztecs
