COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Cougars picked up another Mountain West Conference road victory Thursday night, defeating the Air Force Falcons 75-60 at Clune Arena to sweep the series.

In yet another balanced scoring attack, 11 Cougars put points on the board, with three scoring in double figures. Senior center Ashleigh Chamberlain led all scorers with 12 points while sophomore forward Ambrosia Anderson contributed 11 and junior guard Julie Sullivan added 10. Anderson also pulled down 13 boards, tying her career high, to post her fifth double-double of the season. Sullivan and Chamberlain have now scored in double figures in the last three straight games. Letricia Castillo led the Falcons with 12 points.

"Both Anderson and Sullivan played great games tonight," said BYU Head Coach Jeff Judkins.

After falling behind early in the game, the Cougars picked up the scoring, hitting three three-pointers down the stretch, to take a 34-28 halftime lead. Both teams came out shooting in the second half, trading buckets well into the last 20 minutes of play. Then the Cougars took charge, going on a 23-2 run that spanned almost nine minutes of clock time to put the Falcons away. The Falcons attempted a late 10-2 charge of their own over the last two minutes, but the Cougars kept them at bay and cruised to the win.

"We didn't play very well in the first half," said Judkins. "We did a much better job of executing and playing our best basketball in the second half. I was impressed with the effort out there."

The final statistics were overwhelmingly in BYU's favor. Once again, the Cougar bench proved unstoppable, scoring 38 of BYU's 75 points, while the Falcon bench scored just 12. The Cougars also hit the boards hard, pulling down 43 rebounds, including 29 on the defensive glass, to post a 13-board advantage over Air Force. Turnovers were almost even, with BYU letting go of 18 and Air Force committing 20, but BYU was able to capitalize on Falcon miscues and convert those turnovers into 25 Cougar points while Air Force managed just 4 points off turnovers.

Overall, the Cougars shot 41.1 percent (23-56) from the field, coming in just barely above their 40.4 percent season average while holding Air Force to 34 percent shooting. The Cougars also shot 73.5 percent (25-34) from the charity stripe, an increase over their 69.9 percent season average.

The MWC victory boosts the Cougars to 4-6 in Conference and 14-10 overall while Air Force drops to 0-9 in Conference and 3-19 overall. The Cougars, who have won three out of their last four games, will next be in action Saturday at New Mexico for the second game of their three-game road trip. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
