Calvert, Mackey-Williams named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention
PROVO, Utah — BYU’s Emma Calvert and Arielle Mackey-Williams were named 2023 WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention on Tuesday.
To qualify for this honor, student-athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.2, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and be a starter or important reserve and compete in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
Calvert is a pre-business major who holds a 3.69 GPA and has appeared in all of the Cougars' 29 games this season, starting 24 times.
The native of Farr West, Utah, averages 6.4 points on 44.4 percent shooting while grabbing 3.7 rebounds, dishing out 1.3 assists and recording 1.0 blocks per game to lead the Cougars. The forward has scored in double figures seven times this season, notching a career-high 17 points against No. 18 Gonzaga last week.
Mackey-Williams is a communication major with an emphasis on journalism and holds a 3.23 GPA. The sophomore scored 8.6 points per game for the Cougars on a 40.9 percent clip, 34.8 percent from three and 85.2 percent from the charity stripe.
The Ngati Porou, New Zealand native scored a career-high 18 points against Colorado State on Nov. 8, 2022, and has finished in double-figures in 10 games this season.
