BYU breaks into AP Top 15 for first time in school history
PROVO, Utah – The BYU women's basketball team moved up to No. 15 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Monday, its highest ranking in school history.
Ranked No. 17 last week, the updated rankings came just as BYU was warming up on the court in the semifinals of the WCC Tournament as the No. 1 seed. BYU beat No. 4 seed Portland 59-52 to advance to the championship game Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena.
The Cougars bested their previous high mark of 16 achieved three times earlier this year. With 25 regular season wins, BYU also broke its record of 24 regular season wins, also accomplished three times.
The Top 25 ranking this week makes it 15 consecutive weeks in the AP Poll, also a program record.
