Gonzales wins third WCC weekly honor
SAN MATEO, Calif. – Sophomore guard Shaylee Gonzales won her third West Coast Conference Player of the Week award for the 2021-22 season on Monday.
BYU (25-2, 15-1) went 2-0 with wins over Santa Clara and Pacific on the road and clinched the outright WCC regular-season title last week.
Gonzales did a little bit of everything during the week, averaging 17.5 points per game, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals.
The Gilbert, Arizona, product is averaging 18.7 points per game this season and is one of the most versatile, also pulling down 5.7 rebounds, dishing out 4.4 assists and averaging 2.4 steals per game.
The Cougars earned the No. 1 seed for the WCC Tournament that kicks off this weekend. BYU will play its first game, receiving a bye to the semifinals, on Monday, March 7 at 12 p.m. PT in Las Vegas.
