SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – BYU sophomore forward Lauren Gustin was named one of 10 finalists for the 2022 Katrina McClain Award on Thursday. The award recognizes the top power forwards in women’s Division I college basketball by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in November, which has now been narrowed to 10.

Gustin leads the West Coast Conference with 12.0 rebounds per game and ranks No. 4 nationally. Averaging 11.2 points per game, Gustin has posted 11 double-doubles this season in 20 games played which ranks No. 21 among Division I players. Her 4.7 offensive boards per game also ranks 4th in the country and tops in the league.

College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. In late February, the watch list of 10 players for the 2022 Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Award will be narrowed to five. In March those finalists will be presented to Ms. McClain and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee where a winner will be selected. Starting Five Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies will go live on Friday, February 11.

The winner of the 2022 Katrina McClain Award will be presented on a to be determined date, along with the other four members of the Women’s Starting Five.
