Rematch with LMU set for Saturday

PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s basketball will play LMU for the second time this season when the Cougars host the Lions on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center. The matchup will be broadcast live on BYUtv and on the BYUtv App.

ABOUT BYU (10-3, 6-2)

  • The Cougars kept their perfect home season record (6-0) intact on Thursday when they pulled away from Pepperdine for a 75-61 win
  • Lauren Gustin had a career night versus the Waves, racking up 27 points and 20 rebounds, both BYU career highs
  • Gustin's 20 rebounds tied Sara Hamson (vs. San Francisco on 02/10/18) for the 12th highest rebounding game in BYU history
  • Gustin is the nation’s leading rebounder (13.8 rpg) and ranks 2nd in the country in defensive rebounds per game (10.2)
  • Sara Hamson ranks 2nd in the WCC and 33rd in the country in blocks per game with 2.31
  • Shaylee Gonzales leads the WCC in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per contest
  • Along with Gonzales, Gustin (12.8 ppg) and Paisley Johnson Harding (11.8 ppg) are also averaging double figures in scoring. Coming off the bench, Tegan Graham is the Cougars’ fourth leading scorer (8.2 ppg)
  • As a team, BYU leads the WCC in field-goal percentage defense (.364) and 3-pointers per game (7.38)

ABOUT LMU (5-10, 4-6)

  • The Lions, coming off a 51-43 road loss to San Diego on Thursday, are currently tied for 7th place with Pacific in the WCC standings
  • Junior guard Ariel Johnson leads LMU in scoring (12.2 ppg), assists (2.9 apg) and steals (2.1 spg)
  • Sophomore guard Ciera Ellington (10.2 ppg), sophomore forward Khari Clark (9.7 ppg) and senior guard Chelsey Gipson (9.3 ppg) round out the Lions’ top four scorers
  • Clark is averaging a team-best 6.9 rebounds per contest
  • Senior center Meghan Mandel leads the WCC in blocks per game with 2.5
  • As a team, LMU leads the WCC in blocked shots per game (4.93) and ranks third in field-goal percentage defense (.385)

  • BYU holds an 18-2 all-time series advantage over the Lions
