BYU women set to battle WCC foe Portland Saturday in Provo

After a 55-43 disappointing loss to No. 16 Gonzaga, BYU women’s basketball looks to get back to winning as it continues West Coast Conference action with its second-straight home contest.

The Cougars (7-6,0-2) hosts Portland (7-6, 0-2), Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. MDT. The game will be carried live on BYUtv and on the BYUtv App.

• BYU head coach Jeff Judkins recorded  his 400th career win in the 65-47 road win at Pepperdine on Monday, Dec. 30; Judkins is the all-time winningest men’s or women ’s BYU basketball head coach
• Two players are scoring in double figures for the Cougars led by 14.1 points from junior guard Paisley Johnson; senior guard Brenna Chase Drollinger follows contributing 11.8 points per contest; Drollinger currently ranks 26th all-time in career points with 1,102; she tops the team in assists and in steals with 4.0 and 1.9 averages, respectively
• Sara Hamson leads the way in rebounds and blocks, pulling down 7.9 boards a game and getting 3.7 blocks a contest
• BYU is  averaging 61.9 points and pulls down 41.8 rebounds a contest
• In eight of the 13 games played, BYU has had three players score in double figures, four put up double-digit points in the home win over Utah Valley on Dec. 14 
• The Cougars lead the all-time series vs. Portland 24-4; the Pilots are 2-11 when playing in Provo

• Portland finished its nonconference schedule with a 7-4 record recording wins over Utah State and Fresno State; the Pilots are 7-6, 0-2 on the year after Thursday's 74-55 loss at San Diego
• Portland has three players scoring in double figures led by 16.8 points from Haylee Andrews; teammate Alex Fowler is next with 16.7 points; Kate Anderson rounds out the offensive presence for the Pilots with a 14.1 point average; Fowler pulls down a team-best 7.5 rebounds; Anderson tops the list in assists and steals with an identical 3.1 average 
• The Pilots are averaging 69.8 points and pull down 35.6 rebounds a contest
• Portland was picked to finish in last place in this year’s conference race as voted on by the league’s head coaches last October
