Second-consecutive road game takes Cougar women to Boise State Wednesday

PROVO, Utah— Playing its second-consecutive road game, BYU women’s basketball heads to Idaho for its next contest. The Cougars battle Boise State on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. MDT. A live video stream will be made available on the Mountain West Network.

ABOUT BYU

  • The Cougars enter the week with a 3-3 record after a comeback falls short at Arizona State
  • With 396 total wins, head coach Jeff Judkins is the all-time winningest men’s or women’s BYU basketball head coach; he needs four wins to reach 400 victories, a coaching milestone
  • Wednesday’s game at Boise State is the third of four teams from the Mountain West Conference that the Cougar women will play; BYU beat Utah State and Fresno State in November; they will battle San Jose State on Dec. 18 in Maui
  • In the USA Today Women’s Basketball Coaches Poll, the Cougars play two teams ranked in the top-25; Oregon State (No. 5) and Gonzaga (No. 17); ASU is receiving votes (12)
  • Three players are putting up double figures in scoring led by 15.7 points from junior guard Paisley Johnson; senior guard Brenna Chase Drollinger is second with her 11.8 average; Jasmine Moody follows contributing 11 points a game
  • Drollinger tops the leaderboard in assists with a 3.7 average and steals with a 2.7 average; junior center Sara Hamson leads the way in rebounds (9.8) and blocks (3.7)
  • After finishing second in last year’s West Coast Conference race and winning the league’s tournament crown, BYU was selected to finish second in the conference race
  • Three Cougar players were named to the 2019-20 Preseason All-WCC Team: Brenna Chase Drollinger,  Paisley Johnson and Sara Hamson

  • Boise State is 6-4, 2-0 having already played two MWC games and enters this week’s basketball action on a two-game win streak
  • The Broncos return eight letterwinners and three starters from last year’s team that won the Mountain West Conference regular and tournament titles; they also competed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament
  • Boise State was predicted to once again win the 2019-20 league race; Players Braydey Hodgins and Riley Lupfer were selected to the MW Preseason Team
  • Head coach Gordy Presnell is in his 14th season at the helm of BSU’s program where he has compiled a 277-176 record
