Hamson named to 2018-19 WCC Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team

SAN BRUNO, Calif. (February 27, 2019)– Sophomore center Sara Hamson was named to the 2018-19 West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team.

 

Hamson is one of 10 players honored this year. She has a 3.9 GPA and is majoring in Bioinformatics. Hamson leads the team in blocked shots with a 2.4 average and pulls down the second-most rebounds with a 5.5 average. Nationally, she ranks 26th in blocked shots.

 

Sophomore Maria Albiero was named a 2018-19 WCC Women’s Basketball All-Academic Honorable Mention. The 5-foot-9 guard is majoring in exercise science and carries a 3.82 GPA. Nine student-athletes made the honorable mention list. Albiero has played in all 27 games this season and is averaging 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.

 

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
