Gonzales named West Coast Conference Player of the Week
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference has named freshman guard Shaylee Gonzales its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 17, 2018.
The honor is the first for Gonzales and the first for BYU this season.
She led all scorers in Saturday’s home game vs. Colorado State with a career-high 29 points and nearly had a double-double with nine rebounds. She also dished out team bests in assists with four and in steals with three. The 12 made field goals and the 22 attempted field goals are career bests.
With 5:32 left in the third quarter of the game, she had 17 of BYU’s 27 points. CSU, as a team, had scored 21 at that same time in the contest.
Gonzales shot 54.5 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from behind the arc and 50.0 percent from the free-throw line.
