SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Three members of the 2017-18 BYU women's basketball team were named to the West Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, announced the league on Thursday.

Freshmen Sara Hamson and Maria Albiero earned Gold Honors (3.75-3.50 GPA) while senior Cassie Devashrayee received Bronze Honors (3.49-3.00).

Hamson finished her freshman campaign with a 3.86 GPA in bioinformatics while Albiero concluded her first season as a Cougar with a 3.85 GPA in exercise science.

For Devashrayee it is her third straight Commsioner’s Honor Roll citation. She made the Bronze Honor Roll her sophomore year and was on the Silver Honor Roll last year. Devashrayee graduated with a degree in business and had a 3.23 GPA.

The WCC recognized more than 1,000 student-athletes for the seventh-consecutive year from 10 schools for balancing academic excellence and athletic success. More than 1,430 athletes qualified for the award this year, establishing a conference record for the fifth-straight season.

To be named to the WCC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, student-athletes must have earned a varsity letter in a sport where the WCC crowned a champion in the 2017-18 season while maintaining a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or higher and completing an average of 12 graded credit hours per term.
