PROVO, Utah—Former Cougar standout Kim Parker Beeston has been named BYU’s women’s basketball operations director, announced head coach Jeff Judkins.

“We are excited to have Kim on our staff,” Judkins said. “She was a great player for us and with her coaching experience along with her excellent organizational skills, she’ll be a huge asset for our team and our program. We are happy to have her back.”

Beeston spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the women’s basketball program at Southern Utah University.

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to be back with the coaching staff that helped coach me as a player,” Beeston said. “BYU is an amazing university and I hope to be able to use my experiences while at SUU to help the program in any way I can.”

Beeston was a three-year starter for BYU, finishing her career in 20th place on the school’s prestigious 1,000-point club with 1,241 career points. She ranks fourth all-time in career 3-pointers made with 250 and ties All-American Erin Thorn’s single game record in 3-pointers made in a game with nine. Beeston ties Haley Hall Steed’s school’s record in total games played with 143 total contests while ranking 11th all-time in total assists in a career with 381.

While at BYU from 2009 to 2014, Beeston garnered three West Coast Conference All-Academic team honors and was added to the WCC Commissioner’s Gold Honor Roll for the 2011-12 season. She also received four conference player of the week citations.

Beeston was a team co-captain her senior season and helped guide the Cougars to the program’s second Sweet 16 run, losing to eventual champions UConn in 2014.

Beeston prepped at Wasatch High School where she led the team to back-to-back state titles in 2008 and 2009. She was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2009 and was a four-time first-team All-Region honoree.  In 2009, Beeston was named Ms. Basketball and was nominated for both the McDonald’s All-American team and the Gatorade Player of the Year award. She also lettered in soccer, track and field and in softball.
