Rydalch named College Sports Madness Player of the Week

PROVO, Utah—BYU Guard Lexi Eaton Rydalch has been named Madness West Coast Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her exceptional performance during the past week’s action.

College Sports Madness identifies the players who have had the greatest impact to their team from each conference on a national basis each Monday.

Rydalch led the Cougars in both league wins this week and her game-high 26 points vs. Pacific on Saturday moved her into fourth place all-time in scoring in BYU history with a total of 2,065 points. She surpassed former Cougar All-American and WNBA standout Erin Thorn’s 2,061 points.

Against the Tigers, she pulled down seven rebounds, dished out four assists and had two steals.

On Thursday against St. Mary’s, she recorded her ninth 20-plus point outing with another game-high of 22 points. Rydalch also tied her career record in assists with a game-best eight. She also grabbed six rebounds and had one steal.

In the two WCC contests, she averaged 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. Rydalch shot 41.7 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from 3-point range and 59.1 percent at the charity stripe.
