Beeston named Player of the Week by College Sports Madness

PROVO, Utah—College Sports Madness has named BYU Guard Kim Beestonthe Madness West Coast Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her exceptional performance during the past week’s action. The award is the first for Beeston this year.

College Sports Madness identifies the players who have made the greatest impact to their team from each conference and on a national basis each Monday.

Beeston had a career afternoon at LMU from 27 points and nine treys. The nine treys tied BYU’s single game record in 3-pointers made set by All-American Erin Thorn’s on Dec. 14, 2001 against Arkansas Pine-Bluff.  

The nine 3-pointers were the most made by a WCC player this season.

She also had a game-high nine assists, one shy of her career. The 27 total points marked the 19th game tallying double figures in points and were the fifth career game with 20-plus points.  Beeston had 21 points going 7 for 7 from 3-point range in the first half to lead all scorers.

In the road game at Pepperdine, she recorded her 18th game putting up 10-plus points with 15, 12 were from 3-point range. She also dished out six assists.

For the week, she totaled 42 points, 15 assists, two rebounds and three steals. She shot 66.7 percent from the field, 68.4 from behind the arc and averaged 7.5 assists.

On the team, Beeston tops the list in assists with 110, for a 3.9 average and in steals with 33 and a 1.2 average per game. She ranks third on the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game and has the team’s best 3-point field goal percentage .403 (81-201).
