BYU Celebrates Women in Sports

PROVO, Utah—BYU Athletics honors female athletes Saturday with games, food and music as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Activities kick off at 9 a.m. (ending at 11 a.m.) in the west annex of the Smith Fieldhouse on BYU campus. Boys and girls of all ages can interact, play games and run drills with BYU’s female athletes. Fans can also get free posters and autographs from the Cougars.

In addition to activities, fans can enter drawings for gift certificates to Marley’s, Snowbird and Fat Cats. Food and goodie bags will be provided.

Admission to the event is free and free parking is available around the Fieldhouse.

Following the event, fans can watch some of the female athletes in action. The gymnastics team launches its season against Boise State at noon on Saturday in the Fieldhouse. Women’s basketball takes on conference rival Saint Mary’s at 1 p.m. at the Marriott Center. Admission to the gymnastics meet is free and spectators 50 years of age and older can get in free to the women’s basketball game.
