Provo, Utah (Feb. 16, 2011) – BYU athletics is celebrating National Girls and Women in Sport Day on Sat. Feb. 19, in the Smith Fieldhouse annex.

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., fans are invited to join Cougar women athletes to participate in fun games, activities, prizes, and giveaways. Then all attendees are invited to support the women’s basketball team, as they take on TCU at noon in the annual WBCA Pink Zone game.

The Cougars join hundreds of university athletic programs throughout the country that recognize breast cancer awareness. The initiative is an effort to raise breast cancer awareness on and off the basketball court.

Everyone who wears pink to the game gets in free. The women’s basketball team is in first place in the most recent Mountain West Conference standings with a 10-1 record. They are on a seven game win streak and are 6-0 at the Marriott Center.
