BYU Women's Sports To Be Carried On KBYU-TV and BYU-TV

PROVO -- Eight BYU women's sports events will be broadcast live or tape delay on KBYU-TV Channel 11, and BYU-TV during the 2000 fall athletic season. BYU-TV is available through the Dish Network, system 500.

Four women's volleyball matches, two soccer and two women's basketball games are scheduled for broadcast between September 22 and December 15. The programs are scheduled to air at 7 p.m. on Friday nights and at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoons. One women's volleyball match and a soccer game already aired earlier this month.

"We're excited for the opportunity to give our women's sports local and national exposure. Our partnership with KBYU will immensely benefit our programs," said BYU's women's athletic director Elaine Michaelis. "We know we have a large alumni and fan base outside the Utah area and this will give those folks an opportunity to watch some great BYU sporting events."

Funding for the broadcasts was made available through BYU's Cougar Club and the Department of Conferences and Workshops.

The next broadcast is this Friday when the Cougar volleyball team begins conference play hosting UNLV, at 7 p.m. at the Smith Fieldhouse.
