PROVO, UTAH – BYU Athletics is ranked No. 3 in the nation in the 2022 Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup Final Division I Fall Standings released on Thursday.

BYU has finished in the Top-5 of the fall standings in four consecutive years of competition and in five of the last six years. Last year, BYU was first in the fall standings for the first time in the history of the Directors' Cup.

The Directors' Cup annually ranks college athletic programs around the country by awarding points based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships. Preliminary standings are released following the fall and winter athletic seasons and lead up to the release of a final ranking following the spring season.

"It was another great fall season at BYU," said BYU Director of Athletics Tom Holmoe. "I’m very happy for the student-athletes and coaches that represent our fall sports, for all making the postseason. To be No. 3 in the nation is something for all of Cougar Nation to be proud of."

BYU’s No. 3 finish in the fall standings ranks the Cougars among some of the nation’s best collegiate athletic programs.

The Cougars’ fall sports combined to generate 314.50 points. Men's cross country recorded 85 points, the most points of any BYU fall sports, following a third-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Top-10 national finishes for women's cross country and women's soccer received 70.5 and 64 points, respectively, a Top-20 finish for women's volleyball received 50 points and a bowl game victory for football received 45 points.

The winter Directors' Cup rankings will be released in April.
