WASHINGTON D.C. – BYU Athletics feature series The Athletes’ Journal was recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education with a Platinum Award and named the District VII finalist in the category of Best Practices in Communications and Marketing.

The Athletes’ Journal will now compete against Platinum Award winners from universities in the eight CASE districts for national recognition.

BYU Athletics’ joint announcement with Nike on their new partnership featured on BYU’s Exposure Gallery was also an honorable mention for a Platinum Award in the category of Excellence in Photography.

The Athletes’ Journal
BYU Athletics debuted The Athletes’ Journal–a series featuring Cougar athletes telling their story in their own words–in the fall of 2018. Since then, 14 student-athletes, coaches and former players have shared their unique experiences at BYU.

A collaborative effort between BYU Athletics and BYU Photo, The Athletes' Journal series has been viewed more than 243,000 times.

The series regularly features the perspectives of BYU student-athletes throughout the year and provides in-depth insight into the lives of members of BYU’s intercollegiate sports programs.

The Athletes’ Journal is published on the BYU Exposure Gallery and available at BYUCougars.com and via BYU’s social media channels.

BYU – Nike Partnership
In March 2019, BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe announced that BYU Athletics and Nike had reached an agreement on a new seven-year contract to continue its all-sport footwear, apparel and equipment partnership through 2025-26.

BYU was one of the first universities in the country to join the Nike family by wearing its footwear back in the late-1970s. That partnership with BYU football dates back to a friendship between BYU Hall of Fame football coach LaVell Edwards, Nike executive Bill Kellar and Nike co-founder Phil Knight.
