New BYU Athletics show to premiere on BYU Radio tonight

PROVO, Utah — Wednesday, Aug. 2, will mark the debut of “Behind the Mic with Greg Wrubell” on BYU Radio–SiriusXM 143 and BYURadio.org.

The one-hour show will air each Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. MT, and will run for about eight months before taking a summer break. Each episode will also be available on demand via various podcast feeds. 

Each episode of "Behind the Mic with Greg Wrubell" will include in-depth conversations with a current BYU student-athlete, coach or administrator to bring fans closer to the many BYU sports teams and athletes they love to follow. The show will also feature a former BYU player or coach each week in a segment entitled 'Catching up with the Cougars,' and Wrubell will visit weekly with a BYUtv sports personality as they discuss all the current happenings around Cougar Nation. 

The debut show features BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe and former BYU football star and current BYU associate athletic director of development Chad Lewis, along with BYU Sports Nation co-host Spencer Linton.  

A native of Canada, Wrubell is entering his 26th season on the BYU football radio broadcast crew, having served as the play-by-play “Voice of the Cougars” since 2001. He recently completed his 21th season as the radio play-by-play broadcaster for BYU basketball, and is entering his fourth season as the play-by-play announcer for BYU women’s soccer. 

Wrubell graduated from BYU in with a degree in broadcast journalism, and in addition to his play-by-play work, has been the long-time host of weekly radio shows featuring BYU's football and basketball coaches. He also currently serves as the director of broadcast media for BYU Athletics.
