On February 25, 2016, prior to tipoff of the BYU vs. Portland men’s basketball game, Envoy Mortgage presented BYU Director of Athletics Tom Holmoe with a check for $30,000.

The donation was made to the athletic department through the generosity of Corey Shelley, Paul Carter and others at Orem-based First Colony Mortgage, a local BYU Legacy Donor that won the reward in the Charity Award$ Challenge sponsored by the Correspondent Lending Division of Envoy Mortgage.

The Charity Award$ Challenge is a charitable program created specifically for qualified lenders of the Correspondent Division of Envoy Mortgage to help them give back to the communities where they live and serve. For the second year in a row, First Colony Mortgage reached the Platinum Level and choose the BYU Athletic Scholarship Fund as the benefactor. The money will be used to fund two full scholarships for the upcoming athletic season.

Envoy Correspondent Lending executives Dan Hastings, Beverly Jordan and Todd Potter, as well as Corey and Caleb Shelley, (Corey’s son) of First Colony Mortgage were also in attendance for the check presentation.

“It was a very special trip and presentation for us on behalf of First Colony Mortgage,” said Hastings. “We have been doing business with the Aldrichs and Shelleys for almost 30 years and consider them to be like family to us.”

“BYU Athletics is part of our business and close to our hearts,” said First Colony Regional Vice President Corey Shelley. “We were delighted to find a way that our work in the community could provide scholarships for BYU student athletes.”
