PROVO, Utah -- BYU Broadcasting announced at the 2013 BYU Football Media Day that it is developing video streaming apps for Microsoft's Xbox 360 platform and Android devices, including smartphones and tablets, as part of its efforts to expand the network’s integrated digital media platform.

BYUtv’s Xbox 360 and Android apps will allow users to move seamlessly between the web, mobile devices and game consoles, while streaming live television, as well as thousands of hours of on-demand video content, including episodes of popular original BYUtv shows such as the entire library of BYU football and basketball games, as well as non-athletic shows Granite FlatsStudio C and American Ride.

The BYUtv apps for Xbox and Android have all of the features users have come to expect of top tier video streaming apps, including custom user playlists, video playhead tracking, closed captioning support and TV schedule searching.

The Xbox app, being developed with the network’s Seattle-based digital agency partner, Cypress, will support Microsoft Kinect and Microsoft SmartGlass technology, making it easy for users to navigate by voice, gesture or mobile device. The Android app targets devices running Android 4.0 and higher, and is specifically designed to run on current generation Samsung, Google and Kindle hardware. Both apps are slated for release in fall 2013.
