Responsibilities

Former BYU graduate assistant football coach Jim Hamblin joined the Student Athlete Academic Center staff in fall 2002 as academic coach for the football team.
Coach Hamblin is responsible for tracking the student-athletes' academic progress and ensuring each member of the football, men's and women's golf team is working towards graduation.

Education

Hamblin earned a bachelors degree in English Education and a master?s degree in Educational Administration, both from BYU.

Prior to BYU

Before returning to BYU, Hamblin was the head football coach and an English teacher at East High School in Salt Lake City. Prior to his appointment at East, Hamblin spent two years as a graduate assistant coach with the Cougar football program.

He also spent seven years at Murtaugh High School in Murtaugh, Idaho coaching football, boy's track, girl's basketball and serving as athletic director. During that time he garnered two District IV Football Coach of the Year awards, led the Murtaugh high school football team to a championship in 1994 and was named the 1994 State of Idaho A-4 Football Coach of the Year.
