PROVO -- In a display of offensive energy, well fought defense and a season-and career-high 19 points from Kristen Riley, the BYU women’s basketball team defeated the Air Force Falcons with a final score of 77-46 keeping their undefeated conference record alive.

"It's a nice win tonight," BYU coach Jeff Judkins said. "We maintained the tempo, which was important for us."

Everything seemed to fall into place for the Cougars (11-3, 2-0) from tip off to the finals seconds of the game. BYU’s Kristen Riley was especially hot in the beginning of the game scoring nine out of the Cougars first 11 points.

"Riley did a good job of wanting the ball and being active in the post," Judkins said.

BYU guard Jazmine Foreman kept the momentum alive by firing off two 3-pointers back-to-back. Foreman ended the half with ten points, shooting a hundred percent from the field and ended the game with five 3-pointers for a new season-and career-high.

"Jazmine is playing her best basketball right now," Judkins said.

The Cougar defense should not go unnoticed as they put a full court on the Falcons for the entire first half. Their defensive efforts played a huge part in the overall energy of the game and also contributed to the ten steals they collected.

The first half ended with BYU on top 41-22. The Cougar’s first half shooting was also impressive as they were perfect from the line and shot 64.3 percent from the field.

In the second half, the Falcons came out with new found intensity and brought the game to within 13 with the score at 52-39 with 12:33 left. After a timeout called by Judkins, the Cougars got back into their groove. This 13 point gap was the closest Air Force ever got to BYU.

In the end, however, BYU was able to keep their lead and eventually win by 31 points with a final score of 77-46.

Both Foreman and Riley came away in double-digits with 19 and 17 points respectively. Mindy Bonham (Nielson) and Haley Hall both tallied eight points.

The Cougars will return to the Marriott Center on January 23, to face San Diego State after two away games against Colorado State and Wyoming.
