PROVO -- In its most balanced scoring effort of the season, the BYU women's basketball team trounced San Diego State, 84-58, Saturday at the Marriott Center.

The entire BYU team, with the exception of injured forward Cady Williams, saw playing time, with each of the 13 Cougars scoring. Senior Lori Cuff led all scorers with 14 points, while point guard Stacy Jensen was just behind with 13. Guard Alisha Griffeth came off the bench to sink two three-pointers and finish with 12 points.

San Diego State (7-15, 2-7 conference) was led in defeat by Kacee Wheeler, who chalked up 11 points.

"This was a good all-around team effort," said BYU head coach Trent Shippen. "We scored well inside, and with the exception of a few lapses, played good defense for the full 40 minutes."

Defense was key for the Cougars, as they stole the ball 10 times in the first half to finish with 14 steals in the game. BYU (16-6, 6-3) also took care of the ball well, allowing just 12 turnovers to the Aztecs' 26. The Cougars also outrebounded San Diego State 39-27, including 17 offensive boards.

BYU goes on the road next week to play the first two of three straight pivotal road games. The Cougars will first take on Colorado State Thursday, who they lost to earlier this season, before facing Wyoming on Saturday.
