COLORADO SPRINGS -- Following a tough four-point loss to Utah last Friday, the BYU women's basketball team came out with a vengeance Thursday, dealing Air Force a 93-64 loss in Colorado Springs.

Freshman phenom Erin Thorn tied her career high of 25 points to lead all scorers. Thorn sank seven three-pointers, also tying a career-high, to add to a team-high seven assists, four rebounds and three steals. Guard Stacy Jensen and forward Jill Adams each scored 13, while sophomore Lisa Osguthorpe had a solid night as well filling in for an injured Cady Williams, recording a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 boards. Forward Jennifer Leitner came off the bench to aid in the balanced scoring attack with 10 points and six rebounds.

"Overall, I'm pretty pleased," said BYU head coach Trent Shippen. "We had a good shooting night and had balanced scoring. As a team, we also had 26 assists to 14 turnovers, so that's a really good assist-to-turnover ratio for us."

The Cougars (14-5, 4-2) shot 54 percent in the game, including going 13-for-24 from three-point territory, en route to the 29-point victory, their largest win margin of the season. BYU also outrebounded Air Force 42-28.

Air Force (4-15, 1-5) was led by forward Mollie Peters, who scored 16, and guard Rozalyn Russ, who tacked on 14 points.

Coach Trent Shippen Quotes

(On the Cougars) We've had a couple of decent practices and we need to go in and do our best when playing in these two very important conference games. We can't look back at our previous losses we just have to move forward.

(On Air Force) - Air Force is the best 3-point shooting team in the conference, they're averaging eight three's a game. If they have a hot night, they're going to be tough to beat. They have three girls that are scoring in double figures. We'll need to try and contain them. Our rebounding and ability to take care of the ball will be critical for us.

(On New Mexico) They have the same record in the league as ours. This game is very important to keep us in the conference hunt. They have several good freshmen players and are a very balanced team that has a very good inside game, and are very similar to both Utah and CSU. We again have to take care of the ball, and handle the crowd at the Pit. We'll need to try and keep the crowd out of it.

Up Next For The Cougars

The Cougars return to Provo to host conference foes UNLV and SDSU on Feb. 10 and 12.
