PROVO, Utah – Taylor Isom was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list, the award's organization announced Tuesday.

Isom, a senior defender and team captain, was an NSCAA All-America Second Team honoree last season. She anchored a BYU defense that ranked ninth in goals-allowed average last season with just .491 per game. The Cougars also were tied for ninth nationally with 13 shutouts.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is described as the Heisman of college soccer. It's awarded annually to the top men's player and women's player in the nation. Last year's women's winner was Kadeisha Buchanan from College Cup runner-up West Virginia.

In its history, BYU has had seven players named as candidates for the award, whether as watch list mentions or semifinalists. Last season, Nadia Gomes was named to the watch list and Ashley Hatch was a semifinalist.

Semifinalists will be named on November 29, with 15 players making the cut. Three finalists will be named on Dec. 8. The MAC Hermann Banquet to announce the winner will be held on Jan. 5.
