Cougars host Thunderbirds Friday night
PROVO, Utah – BYU gymnastics stays home for the second week in a row to host No. 23 Southern Utah on Friday at the Smith Fieldhouse.
The Cougars look to step up after losing junior Eliane Kulczyk to a season-ending injury.
Freshman Jill Van Mierlo received MRGC’s Gymnast of the Week after recording a career-high 39.325 on the all-around along with career-bests on the bar (9.800) and beam (9.925). The Cougars placed third in Saturday’s meet against Boise State and Denver, but recorded their second best score this season with a 195.450.
In its last meeting against SUU two weeks ago, BYU earned a team season-high and edged the Thunderbirds 195.675-195.650 on the road. SUU took first in its last meet against San Jose State with a 195.375.
