SAN ANTONIO — Fresh off its 69-66 upset over No. 6 seed Rutgers Monday, No. 11 seed BYU women’s basketball takes on No. 3 seed Arizona on Wednesday, March 24, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. CDT and the contest will be broadcast live on ESPNU. Radio broadcasts will be available on BYU Radio 107.9 FM, BYUCougars.com/LiveRadio and the BYU Cougars App.

ABOUT NO. 11 BYU (19-5, 13-3)

  • The Cougars upset No. 6 seed Rutgers 69-66 in the NCAA Tournament First Round on Monday, fueled by a team-high 28 points from Paisley Johnson Harding
  • BYU is now 7-13 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including 7-9 under head coach Jeff Judkins. The Cougars are 2-2 in the NCAA Second Round, having advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2002 and 2014
  • 2020-21 West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year Shaylee Gonzales finished the season as the WCC’s second-leading scorer and leads the team in points (17.9 ppg), assists (3.8 apg) and steals (2.5 spg)

  • Gustin ranks sixth in the nation in rebounds per game (12.7 rpg) and has totaled 15 double-doubles on the season, good for 11th in the country. She was named AP All-America Honorable Mention last week
  • Sara Hamson, a 2020-21 All-WCC Honorable Mention, led the WCC in blocks per game (2.6) and ranks 19th nationally in the category
  • Fellow 2020-21 All-WCC Honorable Mention Tegan Graham is averaging 8.1 points per game off the bench
  • Judkins, the 2020-21 WCC Coach of the Year, has a 430-199 record in 20 seasons as head coach at BYU. Judkins played in the NBA from 1978-1983 and was an assistant under Rick Majerus at the University of Utah from 1989-1999 before taking over the Cougar program in 2001
  • As a team, BYU ranks 19th nationally in assists per game (16.5 apg) and 22nd in field-goal percentage defense (.359)

ABOUT NO. 3 ARIZONA (17-5, 13-4)

  • Arizona earned an at-large bid to this year’s NCAA Tournament after finishing the Pac-12 regular standings in second place, behind No. 2 ranked Stanford. The Wildcats defeated No. 14 seed Stony Brook 79-44 in the NCAA First Round Monday
  • This is Arizona’s eighth NCAA Tournament appearance. The Wildcats’ deepest tournament run came in 1998, when they advanced to the Sweet 16
  • Senior guard Aari McDonald (19.4 ppg) and junior forward Cate Reese (11.5 ppg) pace Arizona in scoring
  • McDonald, who was named an AP All-America Second Team member last week, also leads the Wildcats in assists (4.5 apg) and steals (2.7 spg)
  • In rebounds, senior forward Trinity Baptiste leads the team with 5.7 per game
  • Adia Barnes, in her fifth season as the Wildcats’ head coach, has accumulated an 85-65 record with the program
  • As a team, Arizona ranks 16th nationally in scoring defense (55.5) and 19th in steals per game (10.8)
