No. 2 seed BYU to face No. 3 San Francisco in WCC semifinals

LAS VEGAS — No. 2 seed BYU women’s basketball will take on No. 3 seed San Francisco in the semifinal round of the 2021 West Coast Conference Tournament on Monday, March 8, at 2 p.m. PST. The contest will be broadcast live on BYUtv and streamed on the WCC Network.

The Dons defeated No. 7 seed Saint Mary’s 69-63 in the quarterfinal round Saturday to earn a shot at the Cougars. BYU will be making its 2021 WCC Tournament debut on Monday, as the Cougars earned first, second and third-round byes after securing the No. 2 seed in the regular season.

BYU split the regular season series with San Francisco, with the Dons most recently beating the Cougars 86-72 on Feb. 27 in the regular season finale. BYU defeated San Francisco at home on Dec. 28, 70-46.

  • The Dons earned a spot in the WCC semifinals after pulling away late to defeat No. 7 seed Saint Mary’s 69-63 in Saturday’s quarterfinal round
  • After starting the season with a 5-8 record, San Francisco won nine of its last 10 regular season games to boost themselves into third place in the WCC standings
