BYU women at Pacific Saturday afternoon

PROVO, Utah — Fresh off a 70-65 home win over Saint Mary’s, BYU women’s basketball (8-6, 2-1) continues West Coast Conference play on the road. The Cougar women travel to Stockton, California to take on Pacific (7-7, 3-0) on Saturday, January 7, at 2 p.m. PT. The game can be heard live on BYU Radio.

BYU AT A GLANCE
Junior guard Cassie Broadhead leads BYU in scoring, averaging 17.4 points and 3.9 rebounds a game. Senior guard Makenzi Pulsipher is next with 13.2 points and 3.9 boards a contest. Senior forward Kalani Purcell rounds out the double-digit scoring for BYU contributing 12.5 points and a team-high 9.4 rebounds per game.

After playing in 14 games, the Cougars are scoring 65.2 points per game while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from 3-point range and 69.5 percent from the free-throw line. The team also pulls down 35.9 rebounds a contest.

In this year’s WCC preseason poll chosen by the coaches, BYU, the defending regular season conference champion, was selected to finish second in the league race behind Gonzaga. Purcell and Pulsipher were named to the Preseason All-Conference team.

The Pacific Tigers have compiled a 7-7, 3-0 record to date. In WCC play, they’ve captured wins at Portland, at Gonzaga and most recently vs. San Diego.

Pacific has three players scoring in double figures, led by 13.4 points from Desire Finnie. She’s followed by 13.3 points from G. Luaulu-Summers. Chelsea Lidy rounds out the scoring, chipping in 11.0 points.

The Tigers are scoring 78.6 points per game while shooting 45.0 percent from the field, 37.7 percent from 3-point range and 77.2 percent from the free-throw line. Pacific grabs 35.9 rebounds a game.

BYU leads the all-time series vs. Pacific, 10-3. Last season, the Cougars swept the series over the Tigers. When playing in Stockton, BYU has a 4-1 mark and head coach Jeff Judkins is 5-2 against Pacific.
