Ava named WCC Player of the Week
SAN MATEO, Calif. — Senior first baseman Huntyr Ava was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Ava led BYU with a .615 batting average and 1.385 slugging percentage as the Cougars' went 5-0 last week, including a series sweep of San Diego.
The Rosepark product homered in back-to-back games against Utah State and Utah Tech as well as once during the series with the Toreros en route to recording a team-leading 11 RBI.
Totaling a team-high 11 home runs on the year, Ava leads the conference in the statistical category. In the field, she tallied 23 putouts and one assist on a perfect fielding percentage on the week.
For the season, Ava has team-highs in batting average (.356), slugging percentage (.743) and RBI (42).This is the Cougars' sixth weekly honor of the season.

Following its Monday matinee matchup with No. 2 UCLA, BYU will host Pacific for senior weekend and its final WCC homestand on Friday and Saturday, May 5-6. The game will be televised streamed on the BYUtv app.
