PROVO, Utah — BYU men's volleyball sophomore Teon Taylor won national and conference honors as Off the Block's National Middle Attacker of the Week and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday afternoon.

Taylor helped BYU defeat No. 6 UC Irvine on Saturday with a career-high of 13 total blocks. Taylor's 13 blocks, all block assists, would make history as the second-most block assists in a single game (tied with four others) and fourth-most total blocks (tied with six others) in BYU history. Taylor also registered 12.5 points, with six kills, with a .455 hitting percentage. The Cougars recorded 22 blocks compared to the Anteaters' 10 in Saturday's upset, led by Taylor.

Taylor finished with 10 kills, 16 total blocks and 16 points after the two-match non-conference series against UC Irvine.

This is BYU's first MPSF weekly honor of the 2023 season and first award since former Cougar Davide Gardini won Offensive Player of the Week on March 22, 2021.
