Cougars Fall Short against Huskies, 113-93

SEATTLE -- The BYU men's swimming team lost for just the second time this season, falling 113-93 to the University of Washington Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars continued their excellence in the 200 IM with Diogo Yabe and Randy Belliston finishing first and second respectively. Yabe finished in 1:50.26 followed closely by Belliston who completed the race in 1:52.26.

Belliston also placed first in the 500 free with a time of 4:37.50 and swam on the 400 free relay team that won its race. Also winning for the Cougars were Kurt Mullen (50 free) and Kenny Carpenter (200 fly).

The men will not compete again until Jan. 22 when they travel to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The women will resume MWC competition next week with home meets against Colorado State and New Mexico on Jan. 16 and 17.
