PROVO, Utah — BYU men’s golf heads to San Diego to compete in the 15th Lamkin Invitational, March 7-8, at San Diego Country Club. The Cougars are coming off back-to-back fourth-place finishes at the Arizona Intercollegiate and John A. Burns Intercollegiate to start the spring season.

"The Lamkin at San Diego CC, the home of Billy Casper, is always a great test for our team,”said BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank. “With slippery, fast greens it is key to put ourselves in the right spots to be able to score and this team is ready to get back out and compete.”

The Lamkin Invitational features a 16-team field including host San Diego State, No. 11 Washington, No. 14 Notre Dame, California, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Loyola Marymount, LSU, Nevada, Notre Dame, San Diego, Sam Houston State, UC Davis, UC San Diego and Wyoming.

BYU will send Carson Lundell, Tyson Shelley, Cole Ponich, David Timmins and Zac Jones to San Diego seeking the Cougars second win of the 2021-22 season, having won the William H. Tucker in Albuquerque, New Mexico early in the year.

The 2022 edition of the Lamkin invitational will be hosted at the par 72, 7,033-yard San Diego Country Club, designed in 1930 by early pioneer golf course architect William Watson, whose work includes The Olympic Club in San Francisco. The Cougars previously competed in the Lamkin in 2015, 2016, 2020 and 2021.

Teams will play 36-holes on Monday beginning with a 7:30 a.m. PST shotgun start, followed by the final 18-holes on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
