PROVO, Utah — BYU men’s golf travels to Tucson to kick off the 2022 spring season at the 42nd playing of the Arizona Intercollegiate on January 24-25 at the Tucson Country Club.

The Cougars hope to replicate the start of the fall season when they won the William H. Tucker Invitational by 21-shots at the UNM South Course in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

"Coming out of the winter, we are really excited to get out there and compete again," said head coach Bruce Brockbank. "Arizona always puts on a great event with a strong field and we are excited to take on a course we haven't seen before."

BYU will send out Carson Lundell, Tyson Shelley, Elijah Turner, Max Brenchley and Cole Ponich for the first tournament of the spring season.

The Cougars will tee it up in Tucson alongside host Arizona, Arkansas, Augusta, Cal, Duke, Iowa State, LMU, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s, UTEP and Washington State.

The 2022 Arizona Intercollegiate will be hosted by the Tucson Country Club for the first time since 1992. Coming out of the winter, the Cougars will be tested by a 7,022 yard par-70 course that has hosted 16 USGA Qualifiers, six Arizona Golf Association Amateur Championships and PGA Tour Qualifying school.

This will be BYU’s 16th appearance at the Arizona Intercollegiate since its first trip to Tucson during the 2000-01 season. The Cougars took home the team title in 2006 after shooting 18-under par at Arizona National Golf Club.

Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
